Mepitel's unique surface material is made of a medical grade silicone bound to a nylon net to form a soft, pliable, protective mesh for fragile tissue. Mepitel is self-adhering without adhesives, thus eliminating any adhesive residue on the skin. It also only adheres to healthy dry tissue which makes removing the dressing painless without damaging fragile skin. Mepitel's porous structure allows drainage to pass through to an absorptive dressing while protecting the skin from maceration. Its unique silicone surface will not dry out which allows it to be left on during the course of a week while regular outer dressing changes occur. Can also be left on during cleansing of the wound. Mepitel is ideal for post-operative wounds, burns, excoriated skin, skin tears, etc.
